Life is a Dream

For Pedro Calderón de la Barca’s masterpiece Life is a Dream at Stanford, we built a set of minimal chairs in two sizes — exaggeratedly short and tall — out of which the actors created all of the scenes in the play.

Our actor-manipulated set, which imbued everyday objects with poetry and imagination, echoed the broader themes of the text, which is concerned with the ways in which we create our reality.
