Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

In 2014 I was invited by the Stanford Theatre Laboratory to direct Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Working with an incredible cast and a wonderful accent coach, Kimily Conkle, we staged the show in an extremely intimate alley configuration, which brought a tremendous focus and intensity to Williams’ brilliant text.

One realizes the strength of a play script when one begins to bring it to life: Williams’ play was a dream to work with — every decision made about a character or a moment of action rippled throughout the rest of the production, but the structure never threatened to break.

My thanks to Safiya Nygaard for initiating the collaboration, producing the show, and playing the role of Maggie.
